ALIEN ISOLATION THE DIGITAL SERIES
Follow Alice Down the Rabbit Hole in This Wild Reimagining of a Timeless Classic—An Immersive Virtual Reality Theater Experience That Redefines Narrative Conventions.
“Alien: Isolation – The Digital Series” is a groundbreaking narrative project that reimagines the storytelling potential of video game assets. Based on the acclaimed Alien: Isolation game, this digital series pushes the boundaries of digital filmmaking by using the game’s original in-engine assets as the foundation for cinematic adaptation.
What sets this project apart is its innovative production workflow. Instead of traditional animation or live-action filming, the creators employed motion capture suits to record live performances by actors, capturing nuanced human movement and emotion. These performances were then integrated into the game engine environment, breathing new life into existing digital assets.
A particularly pioneering aspect of the series is the use of a virtual camera system. Operators navigated a real-world space with a physical camera rig, which was mapped to a CGI camera inside the game engine. This allowed for real-time cinematography within a fully digital environment, blending the freedom of virtual production with the tactile, creative feel of real camera work.
By combining motion capture, game engine cinematography, and virtual camera techniques, Alien: Isolation – The Digital Series represents a new hybrid form of storytelling—merging the interactivity of video games with the cinematic language of film in a seamless and highly immersive way.
